Another day, another £ - maybe
By Jason Kelly on 30th June 2009A while ago I wrote a piece entitled: 'My kitchen table has become my boardroom!' The full article looked at how I went from being a market analyst earning £10,000 per year to being the PR director for the UK's largest independent direct marketing group; which was then followed by being made redundant - not nice:(
The article looked at why TJKA was launched and the ambitions I had when I started it. Well a few months on from launching TJKA things are not what you would call flying high, but it is to a degree hovering!
I remember when I first started working, I said to myself and everyone else, that I would become the next Richard Branson - yep, me, myself and I would be dinning with all the great entrepreneurs chatting about how I, like them, made my fortune after treating Mr Branson to one of my very expensive cigars!! Well I don't smoke - anymore - and I don't think I could even afford the taxi trip to his favourite restaurant, not to mention buying him lunch!!!
In one way this thought process showed how naive I was. In another way however, I still have the same philosophy in life that led me to make such a statement. After all, it was this philosophy that led to the launch of TJKA - otherwise I would have just sat back and watched countless episodes of day time TV! My philosophy is simply: "aim high at everything you do" - you may not hit your target, but at least you will come near, or at least nearer than you would have if you never tried in the first place.
So is TJKA where I wanted it to be? No! But it's getting there - which in today's current economic state is no bad thing.
I hope you are weathering the economic storm better than your competitors. If not, then get in touch and let's see what needs to be done. But if yes, then we should still talk to make sure your current market share stays strong! If you do, then maybe, just maybe I may be able to treat Mr Branson for lunch -with you of course:)
Regards :)
