Training you and your staff
By Editor on 15th February 2010Training both
yourself and your staff can prove an invaluable addition to your business, and
can greatly aid business growth. With courses available on everything from
networking to accountancy, many of them free, they’re definitely worth taking advantage of.
Some staff
training is a legal requirement. Food handling training, for instance, is a
legal necessity, but does not necessarily have to be completed formally. While someone with an
up to date qualification in first aid is not always required by law, most businesses will need to designate one.
Non-essential
training may not be compulsory, but is indispensable to developing a business.
There are several ways to approach this type of training: while to begin with
you will probably need to complete training externally, eventually you may
decide to implement a scheme for in-house training. There are, as always,
benefits and negatives to each approach. Shawn Lawler, who manages Knowsley
Safari Park near Liverpool, favours in-house training after discovering that
training employees at the Park was both more cost-effective and more targeted
than using external courses and trainers.
