Use the web to your advantage
By Editor on 8th March 2010The
internet is a necessity for successful businesses in the twenty-first century.
A well designed homepage and logo can dramatically alter a company’s fortunes, much as a poorly designed one
can drive away custom.
However,
the vastness of the world wide web means that without specifically targeting
potential customers, websites are often lost in the deluge. Even a beautifully
styled webpage can completely useless if it receives no visitors.
These days,
social networking sites are an obvious place to start advertising your
business. Sites Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are easy to navigate and can be
a brilliant way to attract attention, provided you take the time to establish
to other people that you are worth paying attention to, as Graham Richards
discussed a few weeks ago.
Google is
another potential goldmine for clients, and using their AdWords service can
generate an enormous amount of interest. A word of caution, though. As these
people
discovered, the sheer volume of information available on the internet means
that it is very easy for things to run beyond your control. It pays to be
specific when your audience potentially numbers in the millions.

The fastest way to get your web site indexed by google is to post it on
www.gumtree.com.
Often you can be the first page on google within ten minutes depending on your business sector.
