I've had a good few weeks recently, having completed a commission to create a piece of art to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of modern America, which sounds like quite a mammoth task! It was great to work on actually; everything about it was my ideal job. Interesting trip last week when I went down to the Architecture Centre in Bristol for a seminar on people and places. The emphasis was to help designers learn how to work with communities on community projects and commissions. It was particularly useful for me because I do a lot of work in the public realm, and the commissioning bodies almost always require consultation and input from members of the local community. Went to the Business Link Entrepreneur Awards on Wednesday (18th July) night and was nominated by Science City York for the Young Entrepreneur Category, I was one of three finalists, didn't actually win but pretty pleased Artstop has been recognised as an upcoming creative business.
